Mesopotamia invented a lot of widely used inventions that we still use to this day. One of the inventions that you might be familiar of is the wheel.
The Wheel
The people of Mesopotamia were the first to use the wheel for everyday use, like using it for wagons. The wheel was also used when transporting goods when trading. Ever since they invented it, Mesopotamia allowed its people to travel long distances when trading or just traveling. Today, we use the wheels on cars and other automobiles.
The Sail
This invention helped to spur the development of trade between city-states along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Ships with sails could transport goods faster than wagons on the land. The United States would not exist to this day if Europeans did not have access to sail technology.
Writing
One of the most important inventions of all time is, the development of a written language. It allowed people to record information to transfer data between towns to cities or for future reference. This development helped the development of complex societies in Mesopotamia and other areas of the world.
The seeder plow
This invention changed agriculture by carrying out tasks of seeding and plowing. Its development spur population growth in the region by increasing crops. Advancements in plow technology necessary to the growth many other civilizations, including the United States.
Division of time into 60 parts
This invention allowed people to pinpoint times for astronomical events and helped organize interactions that are part of urban life. Our civilization would come to a standstill if people all of a sudden stopped using the concept of "60 second-minute 60 minute-hour" to organize activities.
